This is Not The End of the Road

I hate to interrupt this fun "love month sweetness" with a bit of sadness.  But since I have been trying to write every day so far in February, I just have to write this post, because that's what's going through my head today.

Last week I wrote a post about our precious cousins that were killed in a car accident.  It was tragic and has torn our hearts all of the way through.

It's been hard processing the grief of losing our friends so soon and in such a tragic way.  The loss is incomprehensible.

They are having the funeral today.  My husband is there, but I was unable to go for a couple of different reasons.  I can't believe we have to say goodbye.

In case you didn't know this, I am a musician, a piano player and a music major, so music is the way I process my sadness.

Through this week I have written a song for Dan and Aimee as a way to sort of bring comfort to myself and the rest of the family.

I thought I would share the words here today as a tribute to them.  How I long for heaven when I can see my loved ones again.

This is Not the End of the Road
for Dan and Aimee Burghart with love always <3 br="">by Sara Erickson

Verse 1:
You left us all too soon,
We have to say goodbye
We had so many plans
And then you had to die

You were a precious gift
We thought we'd never lose
But somehow in this life
We never get to choose

Chorus:

But this is not the end of the road
And this is not the end of our lives
Eternity's a long time to pursue
And better times are coming spent with you

Verse 2:
The fun times that we've spent
We never will forget
You're friends dear to our heart
Though we are now apart

But time will slip away
To see a better day
When tears will never fall
We'll break down every wall

Chorus:

But this is not the end of the road
And this is not the end of our lives
Eternity's a long time to pursue
And better times are coming spent with you

Verse 3:

So now we say goodbye
Though we are asking why
Dear friends we'll always stay
Though you are gone away

You'll wake up soon to fly
With Jesus in the sky
And there we'll meet again
Where gone is death and sin

Chorus:

But this is not the end of the road
And this is not the end of our lives
Eternity's a long time to pursue
And better times are coming spent with you
