Random musings...

In case some of you were here Tuesday looking for the Turquoise Lovin' party, I am sorry it wasn't up, but things were just too crazy to take the time.

We just got back from a trip to Kansas for Christmas and now we are trying to find NORMAL again if there is such a thing.  I just want to stay home and get the girls into a schedule again.  They have such a hard time when things get busy and crazy.

I have been taking some engagement pictures of my brother-in-law and his fiance.  Can't wait to share those with you!!  Does anyone know how to make one of those fancy watermarks with the cool fonts?  I am not liking just the regular ones and can't seem to find a professional looking font to use.  Help?

Any of you already making long lists of New Year's resolutions?  I usually don't like to make them, but this year for some reason I have a whole ton of them.  Maybe I will make a post of them coming up here shortly.

I am trying to figure out where to take my blog from here.  A crafty one, photography, family diary, I'm never sure what I want to do with it.

So excited about how my blog has grown this year.  I can't believe it really, and I thank each of you that helped to make that possible.  Thank you for a fun year and hoping that this next year is even more fun and adventurous!!

I am so excited to see your projects.  But before that here are the features of the week.

If you haven't had a chance to wrap your gifts yet, you will love this handmade gift wrap at Satori Design for Living.  It's so creative!

Your kids can help with these toddler stamped gift tags...so cute!!  Love these at Punkin Heads and Dooda Loos

And just LOVIN' this Tree Card Holder from my favorite Little Lucy Lu.  What a darling way to display your cards!!

Ok, now's your last chance to share your fun Christmas ideas!  Can't wait to see them!

Snow Globes {DIY}

I'm sure all of you have already seen the cute little snow globes that have been appearing all over blog land recently.  I fell in LOVE with them first glimpse I caught of them and HAD to try my hand at making some.

So, while I'm sure I'm way behind the times {as always}, here is my attempt at making my very own snow globes.

I put some glitter in the bottom of some glass jars along with some pretty sparkling ornaments that I glued to the tops (since it is eventually turned upside down).  Some ornaments I left free so that they would float to the top.
I got a little a LOT carried away with the glitter in my turquoise one, but it still looks pretty!
I put plastic cranberry in the red one, but I didn't even have to glue it.  It was big enough to stay by itself.

Then I put water in them turned them upside down.

I love 'em!  Did any of you try your hand at making snow globes
this holiday season?

Cute DIY Ornaments

In case I haven't told anyone, I live pretty much in the middle of nowhere.  And I love living in the country in the middle of nowhere, most of the time.
I love the freedom,
I love that no one ever can see in my window,
I love it that I can go outside and SCREAM at the top of my lungs
and nobody can hear me.

Yep, I am pretty much a country girl, for the most part...

Except for that I LOVE SHOPPING!!!  A lot.   So I get kind of annoyed that my little town I live by doesn't even have a Hobby Lobby.  I hate that.
I LOVE Hobby Lobby.  I want Hobby Lobby in my back yard. REALLY.

So yesterday I couldn't take it anymore and I packed the girls in the pickup, and we made our way to Hobby Lobby.  And had a complete blast!!  And bought the whole store!  Ha.  Not really, but we had to get stocked up since we live almost two hours away. {Besides for the flat tire we found after we came out of the store, everything went well.  Maybe it was sympathizing with our credit card...ha!}

And Ally and I made these really fun ornaments last night and this morning.  I think they turned out really awesome!

All we did is take some ribbon, yarn, gift ribbons, and pom poms and put it inside of the ornaments. And there you have it, REALLY easy DIY ornaments!

Ahhh, isn't Christmas so much fun!!  Now to hang them on the tree!

Turquoise Lovin' #16

It's time for turquoise lovin' again!!  LOVED all of your projects from this last party.  I like seeing all of the holiday projects so much.  Gets me in the mood for Christmas for sure!

And I have been having a blast making my very own projects this past week too!  If you missed them, you may want to check out my fun Burlap Letters and Trees and my cute DIY Advent Ladder.  I had so much fun making them!!  And for some reason making Christmas stuff is SO much more fun than making other projects throughout the year!  Guess it has something to do with feeling the Christmas Spirit?!!

Just wanted to mention that if you keep getting invites from me and I have invited you before, I am sorry for bugging you again and again!! {Kind of} But I just love going and looking for turquoise projects each week and don't always remember who I have already invited!  So if you get invited twice it means that I really liked your project...if that makes my bugging any more bearable!

Here are my very favorite projects from this week.

I can't get over how adorable this tree skirt is from The Crafted Sparrow. (I'm thinking I need to add that blog to my favorites list!!) {And it's in my favorite color combo too!!}

This is such a cute Christmas twine Frame and Tree at Different Shades of Green.  Love stuff that is repurposed!!

Lovin' this holiday decor at Fox Hollow Cottage.  I really like turquoise put into holiday decor!

And last of all but not least is a beautiful Frame Wreath from The Life and Times.  This is so stinkin' cute!

Happy Turquoise Lovin'!!!

Of {Burlap and Twine} and {Letters and Such}

I am really loving burlap these days.  The more I work with it, the more I like it!  It's so forgiving, you can make all sorts of mistakes and STILL make a burlap project look awesome.  I recently made a cute Advent Ladder and added some burlap bows to it to accessorize.  It is such a great way to add some country flair to your decor.

And all of the {scraps} can be used to make other cool projects.

I also am loving twine.  SUCH fun stuff.  It looks great no matter where you put it and also goes REALLY well with burlap.

So today I'm sharing two fun projects in ONE post today.  One with burlap, the other with burlap and twine.
AND...I don't know if I've told you this before either...{I am obsessed with letters}.  And words.  Both in REAL life and REAL decor.  So I combined letters and burlap and came up with some really cute ones. At least I think so!!

All I did was cut the burlap in long strips and then wrapped them around each letter (with hot glue to keep it there!) till they were all covered.  And back to the coolness of burlap, it really didn't matter how I did it, it looked awesome!!  Here's how my cute lil' letters turned out.

Don't ya just love 'em?

 And here are the cute little trees I doctored up with burlap, twine, and cranberries!!

And here's all of them put together...
{this is not how I plan to keep them...just kind of
a way to display them}  I have another project planned
for the letters!!

 I can't WAIT to show you what I'm eventually going to do
with these babies!!
Be sure to check back so I can show ya!

Linking up to these GREAT parties as always

DIY Advent Ladder

Ever since the Christmas projects came into bloggy land this year I have been obsessed with all of the GORGEOUS advent calenders out there.  And I have been determined that I would make one this year
no matter what!!

So here I am on the very LAST day I can post this project, posting away!
{If you know me at all, you know that I am quite a procrastinator and a perfectionist with projects!!
I never can seem to get everything good enough to post.}

In the past two weeks, I've had about ten ideas for how I wanted to make my advent calender, and even started two or three of them.  But it seems like I kept being out of one or two items needed for the projects, so I never quite finished any of them.

Last week I was browsing through one of my favorite blogs and found this post and I was totally sold.

I dropped all former advent projects and decided to take this one on.  Since I had an old ladder I had been waiting to use for some time now, I couldn't help but fall in love with Lemonade Makin' Mama's darling ladder calender!

So here's MY version and I just LOVE how it turned out.  Can't wait to share it with you!

I took an old ladder and tied some cute little favor buckets to it...and put stickers on for the numbers.
Then I added some flair with burlap bows and some cranberries.
Now I am trying to decide whether I should add tissue paper to hide the little gifts inside!!  I think I will!  The last five buckets have to sit at the bottom of the ladder since there are no rungs for them to hang on.  I kind of like how they look though too.

Each bucket has either a small gift or a piece of paper in it (or all of them will eventually!) with a fun Christmas activity for us to do written on it.

I just LOVE it!!  And I think the burlap and cranberries really helped
to finish it off.  It was super easy too, and not really that expensive either.

Don't ya love it?  I hope you are having fun with your advent calenders too!
Happy December and countdown to Christmas!
