Pumpkin Bread

Every fall I get so excited about the yummy food that goes along with the season.  Pumpkin bread is one of my very favorite fall foods.  This recipe is the best I have ever tasted.  Whoever made this one up got just the perfect proportions. (I can say that because it wasn't me!)  I made two loaves last night and this morning there is only a little left!  Hooray for fall yums!

I would have included a tutorial but there is no need for one.  This stuff is super EASY to make!

Pumpkin Bread

2 1/2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt ( I use 1)
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 c. pumpkin
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. raisins or chips (It's good without them too!)

Mix sugar, pumpkin, eggs (whip), and softened butter till creamy.  Add rest of ingredients.  Bake @ 350 degrees for 30-45 min. (I always do 45)

You can also make this frosting that came with the recipe thought I have never tried it.

Boiled Butterscotch Frosting
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. margarine
1 c. nuts
2 T. milk

Mix margarine, brown sugar and nuts. Stir in milk.  Spread and put in oven. Broil 550 degrees until frosting bubbles~3 min. appr.

Hope you enjoy!  Have a blessed weekend!!

Turquoise Lovin' #10

Happy Tuesday!  And happy happy turquoise lovin'!   I tell ya, I love being weekly surrounded by gorgeous turquoise projects made by all of you.  Thank you for brightening my day each week.

As I surf through all of the projects each week, I am in total AWE of how spectacular each project is.  You must be super women for sure to get all of that done each week.  I must learn your tricks someday.  That's one of the reasons I decided to have a turquoise lovin' party.  I don't always have time to make my own turquoise projects but I still wanted SO badly to be surrounded by them.  Thank you!

Turquoise Lovin' #9

Turquoise has definitely captured the hearts of hundreds (I'm sure more if I ran into them) of bloggers around bloggy land.  I get so excited each time I find a new project by someone that I haven't met before!!  That just goes to show that turquoise will hopefully NEVER go out of style.  I know it never will in my house!

I love how so many of you have been using turquoise in your fall decorating with such creativity.  I absolutely LOVE turquoise combined with fall colors as I've told you before.  I am excited to feature a few of those creative projects this week in honor of the fall season.

1.  Gorgeous fall table at Decorating Cents...I love this so much!
2.  Adorable velvet pumpkins at The Lemonista...SO cute!
3.  Vintage Pumpkin at Ode to Inspiration  Can't get over this one...I love the distressing so much!
4.  And a fantastic "Time Out" bench at West Furniture Revival I would LOVE to have this one in my yard!

These projects just make me crazy about fall.  How about you?

And since I love photography so much I had to feature this picture from That Country Place.  Dawna,  I just LOVE that turquoise wall!!  What a cute shot of you and your sons!

And now let's see what you've all been up to this week.  Can't wait!

Anne of Green Gables

OK, so I have a confession to make.  My sister is travel nursing in Maine right now and got the awesome opportunity to visit Prince Edward Island on some of her days off.  All I can say is lucky gal!!  I am SO jealous.  I hope I get to go there someday.

But that's not the confession.  I asked her to get me some Anne of Green Gables souvenirs from there since I am a die hard fan of Anne.  LOVE those movies.  More than any other movies I have ever seen.  And I'm telling you, seeing those souvenirs made me want to watch the movies again.

I wanted to show them to Ally.  So we watched them.  And LOVED them of course.  TWICE.  All of the way through!!  I know, crazy.  But ridiculously fun.  And now I'm having withdrawals and wondering if I should watch them a third time.  He he.

I know, I am probably the only one who is that nuts over Anne of Green Gables.  Especially at my age.  But I don't care.  I love them and I always will.  I love those actors.  Love Anne and Gilbert, and Marilla, and Matthew and all of the others.  They are just the BEST.

So now to ease the pain of being done watching them the second time, Ally and I have been watching Anne and Gil on YouTube.  I know.  INSANE.  But that's just how we are.  Here's one of my favorite clips I wanted to share with you in case you are a fan too.

Isn't that just SO sweet?  Are there any other Anne of Green Gables fans out there?

Sweet Little Photo Swap #16

Happy Sunday!!  I always look forward to swapping with all of you.  Unfortunately this week I won't be able to share my own pictures, at least my pics from this week.  My laptop that I use for editing and storing my pictures is out of order for the time being.  I thought about canceling the swap, but then thought maybe all of YOU may still want to link up and swap!!

So what I'm going to do is share a few of my favorite pictures that I happen to have on this computer.  These were some fun pics I took of Ally when I first got my camera.  I have always liked how they turned out. So the pictures are from quite awhile ago.  Hope you don't mind.

I especially love the black and white ones.  They just look so authentic that
way for some reason.  I love that.

Hoping you all had a spectacular week taking pictures!!

If you have never joined a swap before here are the rules...and if you HAVE joined before, I changed the rules just a bit so they would be easier to follow.

Sweet Little Photo Swap #15

Happy Sunday! We have had the most GORGEOUS weather here lately.  I am so enjoying the fall colors and the warm breezy days.  I hope this lasts for a LONG time.  ;)  It has been so nice that I'm even scared to talk about it, if you know what I mean!  Shhh...!!

I have been experimenting a lot with portrait photography this week.  And I've been trying to use a lot of natural light to light the face of my subject (Ally of course!).  I got some really cool shots that I am so excited about. Some of the lighting turned out just right in a few of them (at least I think so!).  It's always fun when you have a picture you look at and think, "umm, I don't think I need to edit that one"!!  Doesn't happen very often, but when it does, I get so excited!

I also played around with the white balance and the aperture so I am excited to be learning a little more about how to work those features on my camera.  I can't believe I have had my new camera for a whole year now.  I have had SO much fun with it, but I feel like I still have SO much to learn.

I started working on my photography course this week too.  I have learned a lot already.  It's great fun!

Like the blurred background on this one

Totally using natural light

A little bright but I still like it

Fun swing shot

I'm a hat junkie!

I like her expression in this one!

LOVE!

I really like this one

One of those that I was like, yay, finally got a perfect one!
